Key information
- PE takes place on Wednesday. Please have the appropriate clothing including school PE kit and trainers
- Forest School takes place every Friday. Please remember to bring spare clothes, waterproofs and appropriate footwear. School can provide children with these if necessary.
- Reading should be completed 5 times a times a week (Friday to Thursday) at home and the reading record signed by an adult to achieve Strive for 5.
- Homework is handed out weekly on Friday and is due the following Thursday.
- Spellings are handed out on Friday and a spelling test will be completed the following Friday.

Learning across the year
Autumn term
We will be learning about a range of topics and subjects this half term: The children will be reading a book called Rooftoppers and The Island. We are also looking to complete our own autobiographies and discursive speeches in our literacy sessions. The children will be learning all about electricity and how electricity flows through a circuit. We will also have the chance to go to the REACT Science Show. The children will be looking back in the past and at the Battle of Britain in our History sessions. In Geography, the children will learn about physical processes including the structure of the Earth, tectonic plates and natural disasters. In Design Technology, we will be looking at food and nutrition and we will get the chance create our own healthy meals. In PE, we will be learning gymnastics skills including rolls, balances, vaults and jumps. The children will enjoy Kidsafe sessions with Mrs Bell. The children will also be taking part in team games including football and hockey. In RE we will be thinking about how life is like a journey and what that journey can be like for a Christian. The children will enjoy a range of Christmas activities in the run up to the holidays.
Spring Term
Our class book that we will be reading is Pig Heart Boy and All Aboard the Empire Windrush. In literacy, we will be working on different sonnets, explanatory texts and writing a story in 1st person. The children will be learning about fractions and geometry in numeracy sessions. We will be doing a comparison of the UK, Europe and North America in geography. In history, we will be learning about the Windrush generation. We will be creating a range of art including printmaking and 3D structures. The children will be looking at coding in their computing sessions. In RE, we will look at Hinduism and the holy texts. In science, we learn about animals including humans and how we develop. In PSHE, we will be discussing how to keep ourselves safe. Our music sessions will include appraising songs, improvisation and learning a class song. In PE, we will learn about cricket and rugby and enjoy a range of team sports.
Summer Term
The class book this term will be Skellig and Dare to Be You. In our literacy sessions, we will create newspaper reports, poems and a story in the 3rd person. In Science, we will learn about classification, evolution and inheritance. The children will gain map skills and learn about different regions and how they compare. In history, we will look at significant monarchs from 1066. The children will use textiles in their art sessions. We will also look at VR Worlds and coding playground in our computing sessions. In PE, the children will take part in athletics and continue with our outdoor learning. In RE, the children will learn about Hindu symbols and Ascension and Pentecost. In MFL, the children will learn about healthy lifestyles and vocabulary surrounding school. The children will perform in the summer show.
