PE Monday and Wednesday every week - we are currently learning Cricket and Football this half term
Homework and Spellings are handed out every Friday – we are using websites such as TTRS, Spag.com and Spelling frame to support children’s learning at home.
‘STRIVE FOR FIVE’ as a school we encourage children to read at least five times a week, please can parents/carers sign your child’s reading record each time they read.
During the start of 2025 here are some of the topics/subjects we will be learning in Year 3&4:
The children will be reading some wonderful fictional stories such as SF Said’s Varjak Paw and The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf. In writing we will be creating our own adventure narratives, explanatory texts and poetry.
In Maths we are continuing with Multiplication and Division in both years groups. Year 3 will be learning about Fractions, Measurement including Perimeter, Mass and Capacity. Year 4 will be learning about Measurement, Fractions and Decimals and focusing on preparing themselves of their MTC in the Summer Term.
In Science we will be exploring Forces and Magnets as well as Plants. In RE the class will explore the Islamic religion and why the Five Pillars are important to Muslims, as well as the significance of the cross symbol in Christianity.
In Geography we are going to do a UK study of our choice and in History we are moving onto the Bronze and Iron Age in Britain.
In PHSE, we are learning about how to ‘keep safe’, our ‘rights and respect’. During Art lessons we are exploring Textiles and Collage as well as 3D aspects of Art and Design. Within our French lessons, we are learning how to say Instruments in French and what we are 'able to do'.
In Computing we are focusing on Internet Safety as well as developing our Coding skills from the previous term. In DT we are going to develop our skills which relate to Mechanisms and will have the opportunity to work with Sellafield Centre of Excellence in some of our lessons. We are also having weekly Phunky Foods lessons which link to our Food and Nutrition topic in DT.
In Music we are looking forward to learning/performing Bob Marley’s song Three Little Birds and The Dragon song by Joanna Mangona and Pete Readman which is a song about kindness, respect, friendship, acceptance, and happiness.
